Weight Management

Obesity is a chronic disease characterized by excess body fat that can affect a person's health.  A typical misconception is that obesity is caused by overeating and/or inactivity, but in reality, there are many different factors that can play a role such as genetics, lifestyle (diet, exercise, stress and sleep), medical problems, medications, emotional or mental health, social factors and the physical environment we live in. Traditional efforts with restrictive diets and intense exercise often results in weight loss which is regained,  known as "yo-yo dieting". Obesity requires long term management vs. short term solutions (a “quick fix”).  For individuals living with obesity, managing weight is a lifelong process requiring lifelong treatment that is enjoyable and sustainable.
